How Summer School Sparks Lifelong Learning

By Anna Allen Summer is often a time when children lose themselves in what feels like endless days of holidays right up until school begins again. They do their best to forget everything about the school routine, with their school bags shoved to the back of the closet. At IPIE, we don’t ask you to choose between fun and education for your child: we offer both. The Creating Young Leaders Summer School blends essential educational activities with an exciting environment that keeps learning alive and encourages exploration.

IPIE’s three-week curriculum is designed to ignite a passion for learning. Each week is filled with laughter, fun, and discovery; from Wednesday trips to local parks, to museum visits across Central London. One parent shared, “It’s been great to see the children enjoy themselves and have so much fun.” However, IPIE offers more than just a safe space for fun and learning. It inspires children through engaging discussions on deeper philosophical topics, introducing conversations around Identity, Purpose, Integrity, and Excellence. We believe the summer school empowers children to become leaders not only in their schools but in their wider lives. Pupils leave excited about school, and fully equipped to live intentionally and make a meaningful impact on the world.

On a personal note, I can attest to the transformative power of this curriculum. When I discovered that I would be the director of the summer school this year, I felt inexperienced. But when it mattered most, I was confident and deeply committed to the children. The teachers at IPIE are among the most dedicated and driven individuals I’ve ever met. They supported, challenged, and helped shape me into the right person for the role. Months later, the conversations I had with young leaders, pupils, and teachers continue to fuel my passion for community impact. I’m now more inspired than ever to create meaningful change. The community built through IPIE’s summer school leaves a lasting impression on everyone involved, especially the children.

The Summer School fosters success through a hands-on approach. Our qualified teachers assess each child to identify educational gaps and collaborate with young leaders to create personalised support plans. Every child is paired with a young leader who guides them through their tasks, ensuring no one is left behind. This commitment to individual needs builds confidence and helps children carry their learning momentum back into the school year.
